With the arrival of summer, I recalled a series of pictures I made a few years ago when I moved to Sitges and was looking around for interesting places to shoot. The Aquàtic Paradis, abandoned over 20 years ago, remains today as one of the main icons of abandonment architecture in Catalonia and ironically, closure and degradation have not prevented it from continuing to fulfill the role of an amusement park: it is now a common place for airsoft players, graffiti artists and curious photographers. We were close to losing it amidst the brick orgy, however the crisis prevented the planned hotel complex to be built in these areas. And with the way things are now, it does’t seem to be in any danger for the time being.
